Ronald Anthony Wood, Sr., age 62, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. Ron was born on September 29, 1959 in South Bend to Dan H. Wood and Kay F. Cooper Wood.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Ron. He loved a quiet evening with family and friends, playing board games and talking. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in everything he did. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met.

Ron is survived by his wife, Bethany A. (Kemble) Wood; daughters, Rachel (Ryan) Freeman and Amanda (Josh) Grinnis, both of South Bend; sons, Ronald “Tony” A. (Angela) Wood, Jr., of South Bend, and Aaron (Rachelle) Wood of Highlands Ranch, CO; and grandchildren, Cailin, Akira, Sonja, Brandon, Nathan, Noah, Aiden, Joel, Gianna, Jacob, and Abigail. Ron is also survived by his father, Dan H. Wood of South Bend; sister, Renee (Andrew) Levenson of Bloomington, IN; brothers, Gregory (Theresa) Wood of South Bend; Douglas Wood of South Bend, and Michael (Shawna) Wood of Grove City, OH; and a host loving nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States. Ron was preceded in death by his mother as well as his brother, Jeffrey P. Wood.

Ron graduated from LaSalle High School in 1977, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician Third Class Petty Officer (ET3) from 1982 through 1985.

A memorial service will be held 1:00pm on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, Indiana. Graveside services and inurnment will be held at a later date at a national veteran’s cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00am-1:00pm on Monday, January 10th at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be donated to a charity of the donor’s choice.
