Dennis DeWayne Hamilton

Mr. Dennis DeWayne Hamilton was born August 21, 1954 in South Bend, IN to LeeAnna Neal-Buchanon and Eddie W. Hamilton. Dennis Hamilton transitioned from this life to be with the Lord on November 21, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, In from fighting a battle with lymphoma cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 17 years, Lisa Hamilton.

Cherishing his memory are his three surviving daughters, Annil Hamilton of Columbia, MD, Jasmine Hamilton (DaJour) and Kenya Hamilton, both of South Bend, IN. He also raised three children as his own: Keith, Kenya and Kenico Barhams of Elkhart. Dennis has four surviving brothers: Carl Buchanon, Howard (Mary) Buchanon of South Bend, IN, David Buchanon of Minneapolis, MN and Cedric (Kelli) Buchanon of Denver, CO and four sisters: Angela Hamilton of Atlanta, GA, Dorothy Young and Patricia Owens, both of South Bend, IN and Juanda Kearney of Jackson, TN. He is also survived by his two stepmothers, Pearline Hamilton and Loretha Buchanon. Dennis has a total of five grandchildren: DaJana, DaJour Jr., Ja’Kya, Jayden and Gy’Shawn. He leaves behind a special aunt, QC Griffin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He also has two best friends, Kirk Wright and Donnie Martin.

Other family members who preceded him in death are his father, Eddie W. Hamilton, mother LeeAnna Neal-Buchanon, sister Daun Gable, three brothers: James (Jimmy) Webb, Stanley Buchanon and Timmy Buchanon, grandparents Leonard and Alice Neal and Julius and Delia Hamilton and one sister-in-law, Josephine Buchanon.

Dennis loved his family and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone. When Dennis walked into a room, there was never a dull moment. His favorite quote was “I hate to eat and run”. Dennis will be dearly missed and was loved by many.

Services for Dennis will be held on Friday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
