Ms. Cherry Ann Tillman

Ms. Cherry Ann Tillman, 63, of South Bend, IN, passed away before sunset Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, while surrounded by family and friends. She was born November 27, 1952 in South Bend, IN to Albert Tillman and Gloria Lapaz (Simpson) Tillman.

After graduating from LaSalle High School, Cherry went on to work at Bendix (Honeywell), Raco, Unifrax and then returned to Honeywell, from which she retired in 2006. Cherry was a faithful member of River of Life Family Church, where she served as an usher and helped in the nursery.

Cherry was best known for her contagious, infectious laugh and her love for her pets. Her laughter seemed like it could be heard for miles upon miles. It was so infectious, you couldn’t help but feel joy and laughter along with her. Everyone that came in contact with her immediately fell in love with her sweet and loving personality.

Cherry is survived by one child, Tomecia Williams of South Bend; two grandchildren, Jazmine S. Williams and Jalen I. Williams; brothers, Dana Tillman and Dion (Valerie Jean) Tillman, both of South Bend; sister Davene Smith of Indianapolis, IN; and honorary sister and childhood friend, Pamela Carr-Kizer of California; as well as a host of cousins and other relatives, honorary children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Tillman and Gloria Foster; her brother, Keane Harvey; brother-in-law, Richard Smith; and uncle Harry Simpson, Sr.

Funeral services for Cherry will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the River of Life Family Church, 530 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. Bishop Ralph Parker will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 - 1:00 pm Saturday in the church prior to services. Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
