Kirk A. Edmondson
Kirk A. Edmondson, 66, of Mishawaka, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Kirk was born on October 7th, 1956, in South Bend and was a 1974 graduate of LaSalle High School in South Bend. As a young person, he participated in the Upward Bound Program. Later he was an usher at Notre Dame. He was a lifetime member and six-year President of the St. Joseph County 4-H Booster Club. Kirk enjoyed antiques, crafts, music, movies, cooking, baking, and volunteer work. He proudly shared his baked goods as Christmas gifts with his family and friends.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene and Virginia Lee (Van Houtte) Edmondson, and a brother, Kevin Scott Edmondson. He is survived by three siblings: Robert L. (Cindy) Edmondson of South Bend, Beth A. (Joe) Mankowski of Osceola and Robert R. (Christine) Edmondson of Malta, Italy. He was a beloved uncle to Mark R. Edmondson of Granger, Tiffany A. Stephens of Milford, Massachusetts, Kayla M. (Spencer) Ryan of Saline, Michigan, Brandon S. (Jenna) Wing of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Danielle N. Mankowski of Madison, Wisconsin, Austin T. Edmondson of Wildwood, Missouri, Emily Edmondson, and Jamie Edmondson, both of Malta, Italy. He was most proud of being great uncle to Ellie Ryan, Claire Ryan, and Carter Ryan, all of Saline, Michigan and Elliott Wing of Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Kirk had an ability to remember special events and never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or other special date. He will be missed by many.
Prior to his illness, Kirk attended and was a proud member of Northwest United Methodist Church where his cousin, Vickie Van Nevel, served as pastor. Pastor Vickie, now Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church – South Bend, will officiate Kirk’s memorial service which will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, July 24th, 2023, at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka. Family and friends will be received from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 PM on Monday.
