Nick Samuel Polizzotto, was born, October 19, 1972, in South Bend, Indiana. He died, April 24, 2007, in the line of duty while serving as a member of the South Bend Police Department.

He is a 1991 graduate of LaSalle High School and was a 4-year member of the golf team as well as a member of the tennis team. He is a 1995 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, with a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Nick was a member of the South Bend Police Force for 9 years. Nick wanted to be a police officer since he was young.

Survivors include his parents, Rosemary (Lashenik) and Daniel Polizzotto both of South Bend; a son, Joseph Michael Polizzotto (8 years old), of Granger, Indiana; a brother, Tony Polizzotto and wife Michelle, of Granger, Indiana; a sister, Amy Dominguez and husband David, of Simpsonville, South Carolina; nieces, Lauren and Allison Dominguez, and nephews, Alex Jay Dominguez, Luke Polizzotto, Trey York and Brady York. Visitation will be from 3:30 - 9:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the Joyce Center of the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Joyce Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nick Polizzotto Memorial Fund, c/o Policemen's Federal Credit Union, 1130 S. Main Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601.
