May 23, 1965 ~ June 12, 2023 (age 58)

 Richard Grant Freeman was born to the union of Melvin Lairy Freeman and Pinkie Duckworth on May 23, 1965, in South Bend, IN.  He was the eldest of seven children.  He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1983.  Later, he received an associate degree from Ivy Tech College.  He also earned a degree in the IT field specializing in electronics.

In 1987, he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  He served in the capacity of a congregation elder for many years.  He was a faithful minister of Jehovah and enjoyed being out in the ministry sharing with people the bible’s message of hope.

October 9, 1999, he married Pamela Williams, the love of his life, which he expressed was the happiest day of his life.

He was known by many of his friends as one who knew a little of something about any subject you bring up, aka “The Professor”.  He was also admired for his scientific knowledge of the universe.  His hobby was photography, especially trains.

His family and friends loved him dearly and look forward to seeing him in the resurrection.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother (Melva Duckworth), father (Melvin L. Freeman), brother (Robin Freeman), and aunt (Harrietta Scott).  He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Pamela Freeman; his mother, Pinkie Freeman of South Bend, IN; 3 stepchildren, Clarence Williams of Mishawaka, IN, Marvin Williams and Erica Brady of South Bend, IN; 5 siblings, Rodney Freeman, Laurie Freeman, Lisa Freeman all of South Bend, IN, Geoffrey Freeman of LaPorte, IN and Loretta Freeman of Elgin, IL; 19 grandchildren and one aunt, Yvonne Wells of Boston, MA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Special thanks to Precious Parker for her services in assisting with his healthcare needs.

Memorial Service will be at a later date.  Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel 2702 Lincolnway West South Bend, IN 46628 is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com

Ken Ogorek (1983)

Eternal rest grant unto Richard, O Lord.  And let the perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in peace.  And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
