SOUTH BEND - Ms. Sonya Delores Stevens, a.k.a. "Sunny," 45, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, who formerly resided in South Bend, Indiana, passed away at Houston Northwest Medical Center, Houston, Texas, on Thursday, August 18, 2011. Sonya was born to Delores Johnson and Willard Stevens on September 9, 1965, in South Bend, Indiana.

She graduated from LaSalle High and attended one year at Ivy Tech State College. She was a former member of Saints Memorial COGIC. Her hobby was cooking and she was very creative in her cooking. She loved her children, watching television, listening to music, being around her friends, and most of all, laughing.

"Sunny" was preceded in death by her father, Willard Stevens, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

"Sunny" leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Antaneya Stevens and Angel McDonald, both Houston, Texas; one son, Antione Bird Sr., her mother, Delores Redding, both of South Bend; four grandchildren, Antione Bird Jr., Aniyah Martinez, Ariannah Stevens and Ashgin Hatchett; five sisters, Angela Redding, Joy Redding, Bridgett Stevens, Merlene Taylor and Nerlene Taylor; all of South Bend; three brothers, James "Chubby" Phillips of Champaign, IL, Mark Del Redding of Canton, MI, and Christopher Stevens of San Diego, CA; her favorite aunts and uncle, Ida Laster Kyle, Eddie & Edna Stevens; her favorite cousin, Dionysia Tyson; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for "Sunny," Ms. Sonya Delores Stevens, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011, at Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ, where visitation will be held also from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to Alfordsmortuary@att.net c/o: the Stevens family.
