Larry A Nixon

Larry A. Nixon, 72, of Lakeville, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. He was born to the late Allen and Freda (Newman) Nixon in Morris Chapel, TN on August 13, 1950, moving to the area at the age of 1. He attended and graduated from LaSalle High School and remained a lifelong resident of the area. He also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

On November 13, 1976 in South Bend he was united in marriage to Harriett Chabera. Larry was a lifelong truck driver retiring in 2014. Over the years he proudly owned and operated his own trucking business, Nixon Trucking and worked for Rieth & Riley Construction serving for over 40 years between the trucking and construction companies.

Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Harriett and their children, Kenneth (Bernie) Klockow of Granger, David (Laurie) Klockow of Edwardsburg, MI., Kimberly (Bruce) Bostic of Walkerton, Charles (Krista) Klockow of Bremen, Eddie (Julie) Nixon of Mishawaka, and Amy (Nate) Taylor of South Bend, along with their 21 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, Robert (Sue) Nixon of Knoxville, TN. Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Alecia Penner and son, Randy Nixon.

He was a member of the North Liberty Lodge #266 F. & AM, he also was a member of the American Legion Post #365, and VFW post 1954 in North Liberty. Larry was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who’s love for his family was only matched by his strong work ethic. He loved to go fishing and spend time with his best friend his dog, Ruby.

Funeral services for Larry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Palmer Funeral Home within the Lakeville Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan St. Lakeville, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial with military honors will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in North Liberty.

Memorial contributions in Larry’s honor may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children
