SOUTH BEND - Jerome Dwight Seward, 61, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011, after a truck accident. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, on September 11, 1949, to the union of Callena and James Seward Sr.

He graduated from LaSalle High School and Vincennes College. He was a journeyman millwright by trade. He loved spending time with his family, and watching the New York Yankees.

Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Diana; his mother, Callena Seward-Irby; stepfather, Archie Irby; siblings, James (Jennifer) Seward, Elaine Seward, Marilyn Seward, Ronnie E. Seward, Jackie Erby, Ricky (Kimberly) Erby, Bernard (Debra) Irby, Debra Givens, Carmen Seward, Lisa Ellis, Carmen Seward, Victor Seward, Geraldine Irby and Derrick Irby; three children, Jerome Jr., Candance and Shawn; 10 grandchildren; one aunt, Helen (J.R.) Purchas; five sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law; along with a host of other family and friends.

Family members preceding him in death were his father, James Seward Sr.; two grandmothers, Viola Seward and Rosetta Shine; one aunt, Willie V. Davis; two uncles, Otis Seward and Entee Shine; one brother, Keith Seward; and one sister, Carol Seward.

Services for Mr. Jerome Dwight Seward will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011, at New Horizon Outreach Ministry, 56165 Mayflower Road, viewing at 12 noon, with funeral services at 1:00 pm.
