Torrence DeShawn Sutherland

Beloved son, brother, and father Torrence DeShawn Sutherland, 41, passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas on Friday, January 8, 2021. Torrence was born on September 1, 1979, to Diantha (Cobb) and Michael Sutherland.

He graduated from LaSalle High School in June 1998. Torrence had the biggest heart and warmest smile. One of his greatest joys was spending time with family and friends. He was a jokester with a great sense of humor which was on full display while issuing nicknames to these family and friends. Torrence loved sports especially basketball and football. His competitive nature would come out particularly while playing pool with his dad. He was a hard worker, dependable, and loyal to a fault. Torrence would give you his last if he had it and you needed it. He will be greatly missed.

Torrence was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mildred Sutherland; and grandparents, Margaret and Leroy Cobb Sr.; and Aunt Renee Giden.

He is survived by a son, Torrence Jr.; daughters: Taylor and Michela; and grandson, Drue all of South Bend, Indiana; parents, Michael and Diantha of Dallas, Texas; brother, Corey (Kerri) Sutherland of Country Club Hills, Illinois; brother, Brandon (Taneisha) Sutherland of Lithonia, Georgia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
