SOUTH BEND - Jeffrey E. Harmon, 61, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN. He was born on June 20, 1952, in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Eugene and Joan (Hawkins) Harmon.

Jeff is survived by two daughters, Angela J. (Sean) Harmon of South Bend, IN, and Jacqueline J. (Terry) Rife of South Bend, IN; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Jessica, Olivia, Kyle, Justin, Cameron, Brittany and Austin; brother, Brad (Kim) Harmon; two sisters, Lori and PJ Harmon; and his ex-wife, Kristine (Palm) Taylor of South Bend, IN.

Jeff lived most of his life in South Bend and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1970. He was a young man when he began working for his father at Harmon's Car Wash and Gene's Restaurant, which he later bought from his father. He enjoyed his clientele and took great pride in his business, running carry-out lunch to Bendix as well. He was most recently employed as a mechanic for the service department at the South Bend Community School Corporation for many years. Jeff enjoyed hunting and had many great bird dog companions through the years. He was also a member of "The Hunting Club," and enjoyed spending time with his dear lifelong friends who he valued as much as family.

A special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Farid Jalinous and all the doctors, nurses, patient attendants and staff of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for the dedicated, compassionate care that was given to him.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jeffrey E. Harmon may be offered to Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S.
