LaSalle 1970 Ivory Eugene Smith

SOUTH BEND - Ivory Eugene Smith, affectionately known as “Soap,” 65, of South Bend, Indiana, departed this life on Monday, December 19, 2016. He was born on March 9, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana, to the union of Dorothy M. (Ivory) and the late Donald P. Smith, Sr. Soap graduated from South Bend LaSalle High School in 1970. He also served in the United States Army where he ranked Sergeant, completing his tour of duty in Germany. He was employed by Steel Warehouse in South Bend for many years.

Soap leaves to cherish his many fond and loving memories his daughter and son-in-law, Deliesha M. Stewart (Eric), son, Derrick E. Smith, and daughter, Alisha R. Smith. His mother, Dorothy M. Smith, three brothers, Donald, Jr., Tony and Phillip. Five sisters, Sharon, Linda, Candice, Trisha and Theresa. He leaves eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson. A special Aunt, Carrie (Ivory) Scott, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Along with his father, he was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, Herbert D. Smith, Uncle Jackie Ivory, Uncle and Aunt, Ethurel and Alice Ivory. Maternal grandparents, Grant and Magnolia Ivory, and paternal grandparents, Ninell and Theresa Smith. He will be dearly missed by all who love and knew him.

Soap enjoyed listening to music, cars, family gatherings and BBQ's. He also enjoyed watching sports, movies and telling jokes. He was known for his cheating while playing cards with family and friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement. May the Lord Bless and Keep You!
