Jeffrey Kevin Merrill, 27, of Portland, Ore., formerly of South Bend, Indiana was killed Saturday in a car accident in Tracy, California.

Mr Merrill's van went over an embankment and overturned after the right rear tire blew out, according to a spokesman for the Highway Patrol. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.

Mr. Merrill was born Aug. 8th, 1959, in South Bend. He is survived by two sisters, Tammie S. Merrill and Lori G. Merrill, both of Mishawaka , IN., five brothers, Jack K. Merrill and Randall E. Merrill, both of South Bend, and Mark A. Merrill, Michael P. Merrill, and William L. Sanderson, of Mishawaka; his parents, Blanche E. Sanderson of Mishawaka and Jack K. Merrill Sr. of South Bend; and his maternal grandmother, Hazel Gober Gilchrist of South Bend; and his paternal grandmother, Marion Merrill of Mishawaka.

Mr. Merrill was an Air Force veteran.
