SOUTH BEND - Steven C. Stout, 36, of Boston, formerly of South Bend, died about 7 p.m. Dec. 15 in his home after an illness. Mr. Stout was self-employed as the owner of South Street, a specialty design and painting firm.

He was born Aug. 23, 1958, in South Bend and lived in South Bend until 10 years ago. He is survived by a friend, Larry Barron of Boston; his parents, Lorraine and Frank Stout of South Bend; a sister, Kim DeBaille of South Bend; a brother, Brian of Walkerton; and two nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of LaSalle High School, Indiana University and Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Cremation has taken place. J.S. Waterman & Sons Funeral Home, Boston, handled arrangements.
