SOUTH BEND - Mary Teresa Swick, 66, passed away Wednesday August 16th at 1:10 p.m. in her South Bend home surrounded by her husband, children, and sister after a 10 month battle with cancer

Mary was born June 10, 1951 to Gladys and John Miller in South Bend, IN. Mary attended LaSalle High School graduating in 1969, moving on to attend IUSB. Mary held several different occupations including 17 years with AM General, Computer Teaching Aid at John Marshall Elementary, Bus Driver for Stanley Clark School, and Purchasing Agent at Valley Research.

On November 8, 1980 Mary married Robert Swick. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, survived by her husband Robert Swick, their children Lindsay (Ian) Hall of Granger, IN, Blake Swick of Columbus, OH, Craig Swick of Durango, CO, and Yorkk (Carmen) Swick of Parker, CO. Mary has five grandchildren Parker, Alayna, Lucia, Preston, Calla, and one great granddaughter Palmer. Mary has six siblings, Linda (Peter) Ciula, Jean (David) Manuszak, Janice (John) Kostry, Joseph (Jenny) Miller, Pat (Polly) Miller, Johnny Miller, sister-in-law Claire Park, brother-in-law Don Park, and many nieces and nephews.

Her brave fight was long and hard. She was the rock of our family and the most selfless person we know. Mary taught us how to be strong, yet love unconditionally. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She brightened any room and loved to dance and sing. Mary put her all into everything she did and gave us countless memories to hold onto. She gained her wings and is free from pain and suffering, Mary will fly high to watch over us always. She is now home with our Heavenly Father and will continue to smile down on us.

Our family wants to thank Dr. Bilal Ansari, Renata Robertson, Francis Stapleton and the entire staff at Michiana Hematology Oncology for the care and compassion they gave Mary through her 10 month battle with cancer.

Mary's request was for a memorial service. This will be held on Sunday, August 20, at 4:00 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend with Rev. John Delaney of St. Jude Catholic Church officiating. The family will receive friends to celebrate Mary's life from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
