Edward was born on May 14, 1954 and passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

Edward was a resident of South Bend, Indiana at the time of passing.

Edward received his formal education in South Bend, Indiana, graduating from LaSalle High School in 1973, where he formed lasting relationships with friends and classmates.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and received an Honorable Discharge on August 23, 1976.

SOUTH BEND - Mr. Edward A. Johnson, 63, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at his residence.

Edward was born on May 14, 1954, to Elouise Bingham in Independence, Louisiana. He was adopted and raised by his grandmother, Christina Columbus Johnson. On June 20, 1981, in South Bend, Indiana, he was united in holy matrimony to Jacqueline E. Jamerson. Together, they shared 36 years of life.

Edward received his formal education in South Bend, Indiana, graduating from LaSalle High School in 1973, where he formed lasting relationships with friends and classmates. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and received an Honorable Discharge on August 23, 1976. Edward was a man who believed in taking care of his family. His work history includes Uniroyal and Eaton Corporation, from which he retired in 2016. At the time of his death, he was an employee of Alford's Mortuary. After his official retirement, Edward spent time reading the Word of God. His passions were fishing, watching “old” Westerns, and football. He was an avid fan of the “Notre Dame Fighting Irish,” and he enjoyed his man cave to the fullest!

Edward leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline E. Johnson; sons, Rodney Johnson and Jarrell Johnson; daughters, Erica (Kevin) Grayson, Shani Johnson and Summer Johnson; grandchildren, Seairra Johnson, Rodney Johnson, Jr., Rheya Johnson, RaSauun Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Alexia Johnson, Taylor Kelly, Kiershaun Johnson, Kiara Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson and Asha Johnson. He is also survived by his siblings, Diane Perkins, Christopher Johnson, Charnessa Johnson, Carlos White and Jeff (Marian) White; goddaughter, Lanita Dixon; godson, Deshon Gaither; special cousins, Lendoria Diggs and Jerry Jamerson; dear friends, Leroy Dixon, James Phillips, Steve Marable and Rodney Taylor; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elouise Bingham, grandmother, Christina Columbus Johnson, and a grandson, whom he loved dearly, Jhae'lon Johnson.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
