Brent L. Weaver

SOUTH BEND - Brent L. Weaver, age 66, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at his home in South Bend. He was born September 20, 1951, in Mishawaka, to Ethel M. and Lincoln L. Weaver.
Brent was a 1969 graduate of LaSalle High School. He was founder, president, and manager of Holly Distributing, Inc. Brent was kind and compassionate, and had a lifelong fondness for dogs, cats, and birds, some of whom were privileged to know him as family members and others only as recipients of his generous sharing of food and shelter.
Brent's friends and relatives enjoyed his occasional visits, which, alas, were always much too short. But his few words were always enough for him to make his point and to show his compassion. He made many friends, some of whom only had chance encounters with him, perhaps never to see him again. Those who knew him well valued his friendship and loved him as an unassuming person who cared little for material possessions and treasured his friends and relatives above all else.
In his younger days, Brent was an avid basketball player and he made many friends at local gyms and playgrounds. His teammates remember him as the ultimate team player. He developed a variety of artful moves on the court, and was known among his teammates and opponents as “Earl the Pearl,” or more simply, “Pearl.”
Brent is survived by his brother, Bruce (Barbara) Weaver, sister-in-law, Meriem Letherman, nieces, Denise (Chris) Borg and Tami DeLeu, nephews, Patrick (Tricia) Weaver, Thomas Letherman, and Chad Letherman, and by his poker brotherhood of Dennis Nowicki, Thomas Nowicki, John Nowicki, Wayne Superczynski, Larry Kinney and Richard Ridenour. Brent was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gary Letherman, nephew, Joseph Letherman, by his beloved dogs, Elmer, Marvin, and Sherman, and his sweet rescue cat, Gabby.
Brent's life will be celebrated Saturday, September 30, 2017, with calling at 10 a.m. and a service at 11 a.m. at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend.
