Robert F. Fulton

Apr. 1, 1953 – Jul. 23, 1978

Robert F. Fulton, 25, of 55095 Hollywood, was dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital Sunday night. The motorcycle he was driving struck a utility vehicle about 8:45 p.m. Sunday at Edison and Meadowview in the Ardmore area on the city’s far Northwest Side.

The driver of the utility vehicle, David Loree, 16, of New Carlisle Motor Home Court, New Carlisle, was admitted to Memorial with a bruised left kidney and a passenger, Mark Jones, 16, of 118 W. Ada, New Carlisle, was treated for a bruised back.

Dr. James McMeel, deputy county coroner, ruled the cause of death was severe head injuries. McMeel said that if Fulton had been wearing a helmet, it “most likely would have saved him.”

Indiana State police said the Loree vehicle was southbound on Meadowview and stopped for a stop sign. He said Loree did not see the approaching westbound motorcycle. The motorcycle was operating without a headlight, he said.

The Loree vehicle pulled into the intersection to make a left turn onto Edison. The motorcycle struck the left rear wheel of the Loree vehicle.
