Bobby Macon - Class Of 1968

Bobby Macon

 

Bobby was born in Conway, Arkansas on August 1, 1950, to Freddie and Pearline Macon. He was the second born to this union of seven children. He was educated in the South Bend, Indiana public school system and graduated from Lasalle High School, where he was the captain of the wrestling team.

After graduation, he served in the United States Army for 6 years and was honorably discharged in 1976. During his time in the Army, he was a sharpshooter and earned the National Defense Service Medal. Bobby accepted Christ at an early age and he rededicated his life and was baptized at Gomez Temple A.M.E. Church, where he devoted his service as an Usher and Trustee. He transferred his membership to Olivet A.M.E. Church where he faithfully served as an Usher and Trustee until death.

Bobby gained employment with Bendix corporation where he had 18 years of service. After leaving Bendix, he relocated to Portland, Oregon where he worked for Simpson Corporation. He was a fun, loving prankster, loved fishing, and was known for drawing character portraits of his family and friends. Anyone who knew Bobby can tell you about how smooth he was on the dance floor. He even met his wife Barbara on the dance floor. They united in marriage on February 28, 2006. Bobby was a loving and devoted husband, father and brother, who loved his family. Bobby’s love, humor, and spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; one son; two brothers: Lewis and Randy.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Barbara; 3 children; Bobbie Macon-Kiene (Tony), Kelli Woods (Ronald II), Bobby Macon Jr.; two stepchildren: Evan and Ehyana Curry; four grandchildren: Kiara Kiene, Azianara, Ziarahy, and Tre’ Woods; one brother, Wyman (Karen) Macon; three sisters: Diane Husband, Darleen (Douglas) Macon-Clifton, Vickie Macon; 8 in-laws, Virgil Mitchell, Orderia (Pam) Mitchell, Eulah Mitchell, Virginia Mitchell, Elieen (Troy) Thomas, Redus (Samuel) Voss; Loria Mayes, Wendy (Dan) Kahill; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
