Cynthia Sue Mumaw

Cynthia Sue Mumaw, 49, of Woodbine Way, South Bend, Ind., died after a long and courageous battle with cancer at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, in Hospice House of St. Joseph County. She was born on Dec. 23, 1950 in South Bend to Joan (Kilmer) and Marc Geirnaert who boh survive and live in South Bend.
Mrs. Mumaw is also survived by her former husband, Jerry Mumaw; two sons, Jeff and Jon Mumaw, both of South Bend; a brother, Joseph (Pamela) Geirnaert of South Bend; and by her maternal grandmother, Ruth Kilmer, also of South Bend.
Mrs. Mumaw was the office manager for Design Packaging where she worked for 31 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, South Bend where she and her two sons attended elementary school. She was a 1969 graduate of LaSalle High School.
Services for Mrs. Mumaw will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. John’s Way, South Bend. Rev. Terry Place will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 21, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 North William St., South Bend, where a wake prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN, 46637-3437, the American Cancer Society, 535 West Edison Unit #6, Mishawaka, IN 46545, or to St. John the Baptist Building Fund, 3526 St. John’s Way, South Bend, IN 46628.
