MISHAWAKALinda Leigh Carpenter, 42, of Indiana Avenue, died at 5:15 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Hospital of natural causes.

Miss Carpenter was employed by Dr. Dale McClure and Dr. Bruce R. Deardorff as a certified medical assistant. She was born March 14, 1953, in South Bend.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Carpenter of South Bend; two sisters, Debra Carpenter and Diana L. Grounds, both of South Bend; a brother, John R. of South Bend; and a maternal grandmother, Nina McFarland of Mishawaka.

She was past president of American Legion Auxiliary Post 50, South Bend, and American Business Women's Association Circle D Amis Chapter, and was treasurer of the South Bend Civic and Democratic Club.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in American Legion Post 50, South Bend. Cremation will take place, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Humane Society.
