John Joseph “Joe” Bancer

February 4, 1964 – July 8, 2022

John Joseph “Joe” Bancer, of Elkhart, passed away Friday evening in his home. Joe was born February 4, 1964 in South Bend; he lived in Elkhart his adult years. He is survived by his mom, Alice Bancer of Granger, sisters, Julie (John) Penkala of Union, MI and Alyson “Abby” (Tony) Brison of New Carlisle, IN and two nieces, Jamilynn (Evan) Ryan of Mishawaka and Alaina Brison of New Carlisle. Joe’s father, Julius “Jay” Bancer preceded him in death.

Joe was a graduate and baseball catcher for LaSalle High School. He also played for the American Legion Post 50 summer league. Joe was a 1985 graduate of Ivy Tech and earned his HVAC Certificate. He worked in the heating and air conditioning industry for many years. Joe had a deep appreciation of music, enjoyed playing the guitar, keyboard and creating CD’s for everyone. He had a strong religious compass, quick whit, easy laugh and a knack for recalling funny family events that left us in stiches as we relived those memories.

Joe’s family is having a private visitation followed by graveside services at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 11, at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Online condolences may be sent through www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
