Mary Jan Newman

Oct 18, 1952 - May 27, 2003

Mary Jan Newman, 50, of Lawrence Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jan was born on Oct. 18, 1952, in South Bend, Ind., to Donald and Diane (Helmick) Newman, who preceded her in death.

Jana is survived by three children: sons, Chad and (Pam) Newman and Rick Newman of Granger, Ind.; her sister Lynne (Mike) Peddycord of Mishawaka; and by several nieces and nephews. 

Jan graduated from LaSalle High School in South Bend in 1971 and attended both Holy Cross Junior College and Indiana University-South Bend. While devoting most of her life to raising her three children the past several years she worked for 
Mishawaka Sheet Metal, Inc., in Elkhart, Ind., as an administrative assistant. 

Jan lived life and had an incredible sense of humor. Her laugh was spontaneous and generous. Most importantly she was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt and friend. Her loss will be greatly felt by all who knew her.
