James (Jim) Paulson past away in his home Monday morning after a short battle with cancer. Jim was born and lived all of his life in South Bend, IN. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School and attended Ball State University. After leaving college, Jim went to work in his family business, Royal Root Beer, to become owner/operator. Jim proceeded on in his life as Owner of Bullseye Discount Liquor & Phillips 66 Kwik Mart. Jim loved working with the public and had the pleasure of serving the South Bend area as a Realtor/Broker Associate. Coldwell Banker – Roth Wehrly Graber was Jim's current employer. Jim formerly worked for Remax Connection. Jim was always active and participated in many community events. He was a member of the South Bend Chamber of Commerce and served as an ambassador. Jim loved music and playing the guitar. After many years, he re-united with band members from his high school years and created a new band called "3rd Session" playing many venues in the South Bend area. Jim also loved sports. He always looked forward to boating and fishing on Lake Michigan with the many friends he made through the years. He was former President of the Michiana Steelheaders. Jim was also an enthusiastic golfer, and Cribbage Player. Words cannot express how much Jim will be missed. Preceding Jim in death on May 13, 2011 is his father William (Bill) Paulson, and his mother Genevieve (Deka) Paulson. Surviving members of Jim's family include his wife Judith (Bilski) Paulson of 35 years, and son Michael Paulson. Jim has a stepmother Lois Paulson, a sister Caroll (Larry) Johnson and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to our family, friends and co-workers for all your prayers and the many days and hours spent supporting Jim at his bedside. You brightened each one of his remaining days. A special thank you to his kind and caring Hospice nurse Julie and all the aides that cared for him so dearly. Per Jim's wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday October 27, 2011 in the FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH – 16495 Ireland Road Mishawaka, IN, with Rev. Len Jepson officiating. Friends may visit for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family will donate all Memorial Contributions in Jim's memory to the local Policeman's K9 Fund.
