Barbara gave her life to the Lord and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost in her early teens. As a child, she was a member of Christ Temple COGIC and later became a member of Wayside Temple COGIC in Elkhart. When her father answered the call of the Lord to become a Pastor, she faithfully served under his leadership at Miracle Temple COGIC and helped in whatever capacity needed.

After the passing of her father, she remained a faithful member of Miracle Temple until her passing. She later served as the receptionist for The Boy Scouts of America on Riverside Drive in South Bend. Barbara retired after being employed for many years as a caregiver at the Sisters of The Holy Cross at Saint Mary's College, South Bend.
