Condolences

SOUTH BEND - Julia Jo “Julie” Stalker, 59, of South Bend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 25th. Julie was born September 13, 1957, to the late Billy and Bette Stalker. She was a graduate of LaSalle High School. During Julie's career she worked with computers for Simon Brothers and Associates/Citigroup. She is survived by her siblings, Greg (Barb) Stalker and Diana (Marc) Breden. Although Julie never had children of her own, her nieces, nephews and “greats” were the lights of her life. They are: Brad (Shannon) Stalker, Janet (Abe) Carr, Amy (Douglas) Pettit, Aaron (Emily) Troutmiller and Katie and Eli Breden. She was always excited to get to see her great-nieces and nephews Alyssa and Kyrstin Stalker, Madison and Zachary Carr and Langston Pettit. Julie also loved her church family and her new family at Southfield Village. Julie loved deeply, with all of her heart, and would do anything for anyone. She would give you the shirt off her back or her very last penny. Julie really found purpose in life during these past ten months while living at Southfield Village. Even during her own pain and suffering, she brought light and love to the older residents at Southfield. Julie will be truly missed not only by her family but by her numerous friends who Julie considered to be just like family. Second only to her family and friends was Julie's love for Camp Millhouse. Julie began her association with Camp in the early 1970's when she worked as a counselor-in-training and later a counselor for many years. Julie returned to Millhouse later in her life to serve as a volunteer member of their Board of Directors, sitting on many committees and in executive board member positions.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at Northwest United Methodist Church, 21855 Brick Rd., with Pastor Vickie VanNevel officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Sunday, April 30, 2017, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd.

In lieu of flowers, Julie's family and friends may honor her love for Camp Millhouse with donations marked for the “property purchase”. It was Julie's hope to be a part of helping make this dream come true for Camp Millhouse and their campers. Donations should be mailed to Camp Millhouse, 25600 Kelly Rd., South Bend, IN 46614. Email condolences may be made at www.welsheimer.com.
