Victoria Marie Barrett

March 9, 1949 - Sept. 10, 2018

SOUTH BEND, IN - Victoria Marie Barrett passed away peacefully at home with her family. She was born on March 9, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Mclean, Virginia, before moving to South Bend in 1966, where she graduated from Lasalle High School.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Henry Barrett and her mother, Ruth Mary (Mclean) Barrett. She is survived by 3 brothers, Charles Michael Barrett, Robert Mclean Barrett, and Thomas Henry Barrett along with 4 nephews and 3 nieces, and assorted grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Vicky was an avid and accomplished Equestrian, and dog lover. She turned her love of dogs into a career as a dog groomer, and loved riding and training horses.

We will always remember Vicky as an “old soul” as she loved antiques, old music, and historical remembrances. She could almost convince you that she had lived a previous life in a previous time.

Though we note her physical passing at this time, we really lost her some years ago when, after suffering a massive heart attack, she was left brain damaged due to oxygen deprivation. She defied the odds for some 20 years living in an assisted living facility.

She has finally gone home to be with with Mom and Dad, Duchess, Duke, and Poncho. She will always remain in our hearts. We love ya “Sis”

Private burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in South Bend at a later date.

The HANLEY & Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel” handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Barrett family.

Condolences may be expressed online through our website, www.hanleyandsonsfuneralhomes.com.
