James A. Phend

SOUTH BEND - James A. Phend, 42, of Bloomington, Ill., formerly of South Bend, died at 3:06 p.m. Friday in Bro-Men Regional Medical Center, Normal, Ill., after an illness. He was a computer analyst for State Farm Insurance since 1976.

Born June 4, 1950, in South Bend, he had lived in Bloomington since 1976, coming from Bloomington, Ind.

On March 18, 1972, in South Bend, he married Barbara Quackenbush. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Lori J. Phend, at home; two sons, Andrew E. and Toby J., at home; a sister, Linda L. Hasbrouck of Centerville, MI; a Tommy L. of Osceola; and his parents, Evadean and Jacob Phend, both of Elkhart.

Services will be at 1 p.m. day at Welsheimer Funeral 521 N. William St. Burial will Highland Cemetery. Friends call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday funeral home.
