SOUTH BEND - Vernon Oscar was born to Agnes and Roosevelt Davis on November 20, 1967 in Elkhart, Indiana. He departed this life on August 21, 2017 at his home He was educated at LaSalle High School and at Tinley Park High School in Tinley Park, IL. “Big O” as he was affectionately known by all was a licensed fork lift operator who worked in the South Bend/ Elkhart area. On a sunny day “Big O” could be found relaxing on his porch waving to his friends as they drove down Lincoln way. Big O loved to play basketball from an early age. He could always be found on a basketball court on a Saturday morning. He always would showcase his talent in the Gus Macker basketball tournament. Big O taught that he was the best ball player around and he loved to challenge his friends. Being the only male in the family Oscar had many “adopted” brothers. Oscar was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend Charles G. Rowlett at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Oscar was called home to be with the Lord on the same day as his beloved Aunt Earline Gary.

Oscar leaves to cherish his memory his Parents: Agnes of South Bend and Roosevelt of Elkhart, IN. Three Sisters: Sonya and Clarice (Cissy) Davis of South Bend and LaRinda of Elkhart, IN. One Uncle: Werner Haynes (Sylvia) of Markham, IL and one Aunt: Ruth Chavis of Elkhart, IN. Oscar also leaves behind five Nieces: Sierra of New York City, NY; Syni and Salynn of South Bend; Sykia of Chicago, IL; and Amyia of Elkhart, IN and two Nephews Kenny II of South Bend and Adoniss of Elkhart. Uncle Oscar will be greatly missed by his two Great Nephews Feon and Kenny III and his Great Niece Armani. Big O has many Cousins and Friends that will miss him dearly. Oscar was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents OC and Odeva Haynes; Paternal Grandparents Roosevelt and Oretha Davis and many other beloved family members.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Pilgrim Baptist Church with viewing occurring from 9 - 11 a.m.
