SOUTH BEND - Brian R. Szweda, 50, of South Bend passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in his residence.
He was born on August 27, 1967 in South Bend to Richard C. and Mary June (Wittmer) Szweda.
Brian is survived by his children, Rachel Szweda (her mother, Julie Brandt) and Jillian and Joe Szweda; his father, Richard Szweda of South Bend; his sisters, Noreen A. (Steve) Hostetler and Marianne Szweda both of South Bend and a niece, Jessica Hostetler.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary June Szweda on January 23, 1998.
He was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area and worked for numerous companies in the construction industry. He also worked at Bendix Proving Ground test driving cars. He most recently was self-employed as a Sub-Contractor doing residential construction remodeling.
Brian enjoyed spending time restoring his old Ford car, playing his guitar and going to concerts. He also enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He was a Licensed Pyrotechnician and would put on amazing firework shows for his family and friends.
He had the best sense of humor and could make you laugh, even on your worst day.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
