On Saturday, November 25, 2017, Tolies B. Word Jr. went home to be with Lord, at the age of 35, in the arms of his wife. Tolies was born August 28,1982 in South Bend to the union of Anita L. (Walker) Motley and Tolies B. Word Sr., both of South Bend.

Tolies attended Lasalle High School. Tolies had a passion for lawn care and followed his dream and started his own company in 2014, Black Diamond Lawn Services. Mr. Word took pride in his work and enjoyed his career everyday. Mr. Tolies also loved to travel and see new places. While on a short stay in Los Angeles, California, Tolies landed a short role on "Leprechaun in the Hood". On September 28, 2013, Tolies married the love of his life Shardae N. (Lewis) Word, who he loved and cherished dearly. Tolies loved to be called DooDoo. He loved to dance and travel and he was a joker. Tolies is known for his amazing smile and wonderful charm and kind heart.

Tolies is survived by his wife Shardae, three daughters: Talasia Word of Calumet City, IL, Ahmariella Sanders and Kyla Word, one son, Quinntel Word, all of South Bend; his two sisters, Danielle Word of Granger, IN and Ebony Ewing of South Bend, four brothers: Darnell Nelson, Christopher Johnson, and Marvin Hernandez of South Bend and Christopher McKinney of Indianapolis, IN and close friends Eshar and Daymar Burks of South Bend and David Howard of South Bend, his aunt, Denise G. (Levon) Dickens of Indianapolis, IN, his uncle, Earl E. (Debra) Walker of South Bend, his four nieces: Dayonna Mosby, Tyonna Jackson, Arianna Jackson and Maya L. Ewing and his three nephews: Donta’e Jackson, Robert R. Baker and Derrell Ewing. Tolies was preceded in death by his daughter, Ya’Nyla Word, his grandparents, Rev. Earl (Johnita) Walker and Tolies (Velma) Word, his great-grandparent, Carrie Jones and his stepfather, Willie C. Winston.  Tolies also leaves his mother and father-in-law  to cherish his memory.

Even though Tolies is preceded in death by his grandmothers, he gained two more who he loved as his own, Delores Peterson Brown of Erie, PA and Dorothy M. Ellis of South Bend, IN and a special Goddaughter, Alayzia Maxwell of South Bend and a host of aunts, uncles, cousin, and in-laws who will also miss him very dearly.

Services for Tolies will be held on December 4th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at New Horizons Outreach Ministries, 56165 Mayflower Road, South Bend. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to service at the church. Palmer Funeral Homes - West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
