Peter “Guitar” Judson Anderson

Peter “Guitar” Judson Anderson, age 70, of South Bend, IN, passed away on March 9, 2026.
Peter was born on October 1, 1955. He graduated from LaSalle High School and then went on to IU to study Art. He later worked as a monument mason and “dumped the trash” at South Bend Monument for over 40 years.
Pete had a deep love for music and playing the guitar. In the 90s, he played guitar for local bands Steel Shank and Icky Slughouse. He never missed cooking a holiday meal for his family. He always had a special cat in his life and liked to make them fancy “roll-up” treats. Pete had an active social life at Bob's Pub where he always felt at home to share a beer, a grumble, and sometimes a joke. He also attended many “safety meetings” with his late best friend, Timothy “Earth” Hulse.
He is survived by both of his ex-wives Renee Cooper and Jen Anderson. He and Jen remained close after their divorce and they took care of each other until the end, with Peter bringing Jen the paper and food nearly every day. They had a blended family and he is survived by step-daughters Valerie Maternowski and Indi (Sondra) Poloma; his step-son, Max Maternowski; and son Oliver (Bella) Pennino-Anderson; and his five grandchildren, Leo, Julian, Louis, Simon, and Arthur. He is also survived by his sisters, Sue (PJ) Vandewalle, Molly (Pat) Oshea; and brothers, Mike (Judy) Anderson and Curt (Sue) Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Gretchen Anderson; sister, Ann Laughman; brother Mark Anderson; and best buddy, Earth.
In accordance with his wishes, Peter will be cremated and buried at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend. No public services are planned at this time.
