Lila Darlene Artley, age 69, of South Bend, went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2025, at Memorial Hospital. Lila was born on March 6, 1956, in East Chicago, Indiana, to the late Edward and Mary Ellen (Hoggard) Trojanowski. She graduated from LaSalle High School in South Bend and went on to serve her community for 33 years as a receptionist with Beacon Health Systems, retiring in 2023.
Lila is survived by her daughters, Jamie (Shannon) Hogan of Tennessee and Shannon (Boe) Cambron of South Bend. She was a proud and loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Carley (Jonah) Martinez, Camden Hogan, Carter Hogan, Caydence Hogan, Creed Hogan, Camaya Hogan, Morgan (Austin) Reilly, Raleigh Cambron, Lila Cambron, Brooklyn Cambron, Liam Cambron, and Lincoln Cambron. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Juliet, Eleanor, and Charlotte. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Church, 3001 W. Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN 46628. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Cruz Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
In her spare time, Lila enjoyed quilting, working on jigsaw puzzles, and playing board games and cards. She was a talented songwriter and loved to play her guitar. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping trips with her family. She was a longtime member of Calvary Church and faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for toddlers and welcomed guests with a smile as a greeter. She treasured time spent with friends, especially at gatherings and celebrations, but nothing meant more to her than her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she was always present to support them in their activities and milestones.
In her memory, donations may be made to Calvary Church. To light a virtual candle, share a story, or leave a message of comfort for Lila’s family, please visit the guestbook tab above.
