Danny Lee Maiuri, 73 passed away on December 11, 2024, in South Bend, IN. Born on February 5, 1951, in Milan, IN, Danny was the son of the late Domenick and Naomi (Petzold) Maiuri.
Danny graduated from high school then continued his education, leading him to earn an associate’s degree from Ivy Tech College. He embarked on a career as an industrial engineer. Danny’s work was unparalleled, allowing him to excel in maintenance at Ivy Tech College, where he became the longest-serving employee, a testament to his loyalty and the high regard in which he was held.
His service to his country was equally distinguished. Danny proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring from Grissom Air Force Base in 1994. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of pride and honor that he carried throughout his life.
Danny is survived by his wife, Gayle Lynn Maiuri whom he loved dearly and shared 47 years of marriage together. They were partners in everything and were in essence each other’s world. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Sarah (Marcus) Reed of South Bend, Nicholas (Mandi Moore) Maiuri of South Bend, and Nathan (Ashley Fawley) Maiuri of Plymouth, IN. Danny’s legacy continued to grow with the joy of his grandchildren, Daniel, Connor (Kat Alwood), Dominick, Harper, Evelyn, Emmie, Hailey, Jaxon, Natalee, and his great-grandchild, Elora.
A sports enthusiast, Danny’s passion for the Green Bay Packers and all Notre Dame University sports knew no bounds. He reveled in the camaraderie and excitement that came with each game, sharing these moments with friends and family alike.
In remembering Danny Lee Maiuri, we reflect on a life that exemplified the virtues of loyalty, family, and friendship. He has left an enduring legacy of love and will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
Services for Danny will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. Burial at Highland Cemetery, 2257 Portage Ave., South Bend, IN will immediately follow. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the funeral home. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family.
