It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my dad, Mike Beutter, on December 12, 2025. He left this world peacefully, surrounded by his three loving daughters and two wonderful sisters.
We find comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and believe he was welcomed by many cherished loved ones in eternity. He will be missed beyond words.
A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date and announced in the paper, and we’ll share details here as well. We are so grateful to all of his amazing friends and family who visited him at the hospice center and to those who kept him and us in their prayers over these past weeks.

Michael Joseph Beutter, affectionately known by friends and family as Mike, was a beacon of optimism and love throughout his remarkable life. Born on May 01, 1960, in South Bend, IN, Mike's journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on December 12, 2025, at Hospice House in Mishawaka, IN after a brave battle with complications from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). His 65 years were a testimony to the power of positivity, selflessness, and the enduring strength of familial bonds. Mike was surrounded by those he loved and cherished most at his time of passing.
Mike's life was one of dedication and joy. A proud graduate of LaSalle High School, he embarked on a career with AT&T that would span an impressive 45 years. Starting as an operator, Mike's work ethic and commitment to service saw him excel in various roles, ultimately leading him to the warehouse where he managed numerous responsibilities with unwavering excellence until his retirement in 2024.
Mike was committed to his faith community and that was evident by the outpouring of love and support during his declining health.
Mike's interests were as varied as they were passionate. A lover of weather's ever-changing patterns, he also found great joy in the spectacle of Broadway shows and the beauty of music. Mike loved to dance and shared that passion with his daughters and many friends. These interests were more than hobbies; they were the ways in which he connected with the world and shared his enthusiasm with those around him.
But above all, family was Mike's greatest love. He married Bridget Szynski in 1981 and with her raised his three wonderful daughters, Sarah (Nate) Hibschman, Stephanie (Brad) Wesolowski, and Hannah (Austin) Fox-Welter, who were the light of his life. He genuinely loved his sons-in-law as his own sons and cherished the time spent with them. His role as a grandfather to Lucy and Wesley Fox-Welter was one he cherished deeply, each moment spent with them a treasure he held close to his heart.
Mike was a loving brother to Sharon (Dan) Scott and Sandy (Mike) Wasowski, and an uncle who filled the lives of several nieces and nephews, with laughter and unwavering support. His ability to make each family member feel special was one of his many gifts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Caroline (Madar), whom he held in his heart always.
Those who were fortunate enough to call Mike a friend found in him a steadfast companion. His selfless nature meant he always put others before himself, offering help, advice, or simply a listening ear whenever it was needed. The words that best describe Mike are not just loving, optimistic, and selfless, but also inspirational, dependable, and kind-hearted.
As a motivational speaker inspires their audience to strive for greatness, so did Mike encourage everyone he met to pursue their best lives with passion and kindness. His legacy is not just in the roles he fulfilled, but in the lives he touched and the joy he spread. Mike's story is one of a life well-lived, a journey marked by the love he gave and the positivity he shared. His spirit, a guiding light, will continue to shine in the hearts of those he loved and in the many lives he enriched with his presence.
A Celebration of Life will take place on January 17, 2026, at Morris Park Country Club from 4PM-8PM. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.
