Remembering a Life of Kindness and Dedication
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeffrey A. Clayton, age 59, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Born on October 5, 1966, in South Bend, Indiana, Jeff was the cherished son of Owen and Mary Clayton. After graduating from LaSalle High School in 1985, he dedicated many years to working at Steel Warehouse. His loyalty as a son, brother, uncle, and friend was evident to all who knew him.
Jeff’s greatest joy came from rescuing and caring for his beloved dogs. He was an avid car enthusiast, enjoyed visiting the Corvette Museum, and found happiness in spending time with family and friends.
Jeff is survived by his mother and step-father, Bill & Mary Paulus; siblings Kevin (Tracy) Paulus and Dawn (Alan) Grocke; nephew Ethan Clayton and niece Elisha Clayton; lifelong friend and brother at heart Scott Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Owen Clayton, and his brother, Brian Clayton.
A private, immediate family service will be held to honor Jeff’s life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support received during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Saint Joseph County, reflecting Jeff’s lifelong passion for animal rescue.
