On the evening of July 12, 2021, Sheila answered God’s calling and he dispatched His angel to escort her from her earthly home to her heavenly home at the age of 58. Sheila was born on August 18, 1962, in Chicago, IL to Nathaniel Gathright, Sr. and Lillian Mae Murphy.

Sheila received her formal education in the South Bend Community School Corporation, graduating from LaSalle High School in 1980.  After graduating from high school, she enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1981-1987.  Upon being honorably discharged, she had the title of E4.  Her occupations included medical screener, childcare worker, youth center activity director at Grace Community Church, bus driver and a residential counselor. Sheila enjoyed working with children, dancing, listening to music, and entertaining family and friends.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Center for Hospice for their compassion and care for Sheila.

Sheila leaves to cherish her memories one son, Brodrick Ross of New Orleans, LA; one daughter, Jazmyn Bridges of South Bend, IN; four sisters, Natalyn Gathright and Anneta Gathright, both of Ohio, Natonya Gathright of South Bend, IN, and Renee Mosley of Holland, MI; two brothers, George Foree of South Bend, IN and Carlos Fowler of Louisville, KY; niece, Quintelia “Angel” Foree of Ohio; two nephews, Asa Gathright of Louisville, KY and Lonnell Gathright of Cincinnati, OH; as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel Gathright, Sr. and Lillian Mae Murphy; two sisters, Quintelia “Tina” Gathright Foree and Tongie Fowler; and one brother, Nathaniel Gathright, Jr.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
