Tyson LaShawn Crawford was born in Houston, TX on January 7, 1983 to Betty Crawford and Terral Wardlow, Sr. Early in Tyson’s life, the family moved back to the South Bend area.

Tyson became known as “Twerke ake Shakur”! He was also known as the Prince of the City! He attended LaSalle High School and was employed by Fed-Ex. Tyson left a positive impact on all who knew him. His smile and presence always lit up a room. Whenever  Tyson showed up, you knew it was going to be a party! He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, friend and cousin who will be deeply missed.

Tyson loved his kids and he loved his family. He didn’t let anyone mess with his children! The love that he and his brother Tyler had for one another was unbelievable. They were like twins! One could start a conversation and the other one could finish it. That was as solid as it could get. His favorite pastime was to dance and rap. He really enjoyed working out at King Center. He also loved to cook big meals. Tyson had style and grace. Whenever he stepped out, he was clean as a whistle, fresh to death, a classic man! He played basketball a lot. It was his passion. He also had a team named after his daughter Tysiona, who was his number one cheerleader.

Those left to cherish his memories are his parents, Betty Crawford and Terral Wardlow, Sr., stepfather Willis McCaster and grandmother Margarette Hubbard, all of South Bend; his loving children: Ty’Shon Monta’e, Ty’Sis Crawford, Tyson Crawford, Jr., all of South Bend, and Shamond Jenkins, of Indianapolis, IN; nephews Trevonne LeFae Wardlow, Tyler Crawford, Jr., Hayden Turner, Damarion Lane, Cornell Crawford and Xavier Crawford; nieces Amya Crawford, Na’Riah Crawford, Tyliyah Crawford, Zhiya Crawford and Kataleya Crawford; one grandson, Ty’Shon Montaé Crawford, Jr; two loving sisters: Tara Wardlow and Tia Jackson; special sisters Lynne McKnight-Pope and Lela McKnight; brother Tyler (Alicia) Crawford; aunts Cynthia (Maurice) Crawford-Burton, Jacqueline (Clifford) Bonds and Theresa Crawford, all of South Bend; uncle Layman (Vanessa) Crawford of Detroit, MI; best friends Jesse Taylor, Curtis (Sheria) Everett, David Stuckey, Terrell Jones, Michael Wardlow, Antwon Winbush and Chris McKinney.  His daughter, Ty’Sis, was also Tyson’s closest friend.
