Colleen Marie (Braunsdorf) Echard, age 65, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on October 26, 2026, in the city where she was born and spent her life surrounded by family and friends. She was born on March 17, 1961, in South Bend, Indiana, to Warren Braunsdorf and Camilla (Erp) Braunsdorf, both of whom preceded her in death.
Colleen was a proud graduate of South Bend LaSalle High School, Class of 1979. Her work as a caregiver reflected the kindness, patience, and compassion that were at the heart of who she was. She had a gentle spirit and a natural ability to comfort those around her.
Colleen was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved to paint, do crafts, and write poetry. She found joy in caring for her plants. Colleen was adventurous by nature and once went skydiving, a reflection of her bold and spirited personality.
Family meant everything to Colleen. She was devoted to her loving daughter, Bridget Morris, who preceded her in death. She spent most of her days taking care of and advocating for Bridget through her long illness. She loved her nieces and nephews dearly and treasured the time she spent with them. Above all else, she loved her daughter, Bridget, and granddaughter, Bailey, with all her heart.
Colleen is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Bailey Morris. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary (Jerry) Baranowski, Margaret Ray, and Judy Kolber, as well as her brothers, Tim (Tammy) Braunsdorf, and Brian Braunsdorf, and her son-in-law, Jeff (Katie) Morris. Her brother, Jeff Braunsdorf, preceded her in death. Her family will remember her for her warmth, her creativity, her adventurous spirit, and the love she shared so freely with those closest to her.
A time to visit with the family will be on Thursday November 12, 2026, 4pm – 7pm from all being held at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, IN 46545.
