Quinton was called home from this life on March 19, 2024. Quinton was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, June 5, 1984 to Tony and LaVerne D. McMutuary. Quinton was the oldest of their three children, which include his brother, William and sister, Candace. Quinton received The Lord as his savior at a very young age and served in many capacities throughout the years for the church including choir, ushering, serving food at the local shelter for housed and unhoused individuals and wherever he could lend a hand.

He was a gifted student in school and accelerated at his studies. He attended several schools in Benton Harbor, Michigan and South Bend, Indiana area where he thrived as a student. He was always a participant in school and community activities such as baseball, soccer and various musical endeavors. Quinton showed his talent for singing at a very young age sitting in his car seat singing along with Whitney Houston and many gospel artists. Quinton began singing the lead parts of songs in the church choir at 5 years of age. He also showed talent as an instrumentalist playing the bass in the school orchestra and playing piano. Once he transitioned to high school, that’s when his talent for acting became apparent. He had a supporting role in his first musical, West Side Story, and his acting career continued from there with roles in other shows including Little Shop Of Horrors. Upon his graduation from LaSalle High School, Quinton attended J. Sargent Reynolds Community College in Richmond, Virginia. Soon, his love of acting and theater led him to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy of New York (AMDA), where he received his certificate in professional performance, honing his skills as an actor, dancer, singer, choreographer and director. Quinton used his talents and skills to perform, as well as teach both young and old. He played, directed and choreographed several shows over his career including The Color Purple, Ragtime, Take Me Out, Gypsy, The Wiz, and Camelot to name a few. Quinton was very involved with the South Bend Community Theater in various roles and as a teacher to young entertainers through camps and workshops. He served as an ambassador of the arts to the city of South Bend participating in many community events and programs. Quinton, along with several other performers and artists, spent several years working in the food industry as a server, host and manager at several restaurants in Virginia, New York, Indiana and Tennessee.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his father and mother, Tony and LaVerne McMutuary, his siblings, William McMutuary (Renee Peterkin) and Candace McMutuary, his niece Cicely McMutuary, aunts Dorma Jean Lawson and Debra McMutuary and a host of cousins and a slew of special friends from school, theater and the food industry.

Quinton was preceded in death by his grandparents, Olivia W. Davis, William C. and Dorma Jean McMutuary and his fairly god-parents, Howard S. and Geneva Edwards Walker.

Quinton never knew a stranger and always had time to speak with anyone. He had a heart that was filled with love and that love was made manifest in his relationships with us all.

A memorial service will begin at 5:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2024 at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, 1734 E. 3rd Street, 37404
