Gina Marie Wakes

Gina Marie Wakes was born on August 28,1965 in South Bend, Indiana, to Square and Gladys Wakes. Gina lived a life defined by love, strength, faith, and devotion to her family. She touched countless lives through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support of those around her.
Gina graduated from South Bend LaSalle High School in 1983.
Gina was a devoted mother, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest joys came from spending time with her family, creating lasting memories, and sharing her wisdom and love with future generations. She had an unwavering love of music. She also loved to go on walks as we l as playing her favorite sport tennis. She was we l known for her famous peanut butter cookies, German chocolate cake and her cheesecakes.
She is survived by her daughter Deahndra S. Jennings, bonus son Almono A. McMillan, Godson, Adrian Ma lard, Grandchildren Grayson L. Jennings and Al’Miri A. McMillan, her mother Gladys M Wakes, Sisters Karen J. Wakes, Tina N. Taylor, as we l as brothers Michael L. Wakes and T. Brian Wakes (Shawnna Wakes). She held a special bond with Uncle Jerry Holt and bonus sisters Cheryl Williams and Cynthia Jacks.
Her memory will be deeply cherished by her many nieces and nephews along with aunts and uncles who she loved and adored. She was preceded in death by her father Square Wakes Jr., brother David G Wakes, niece Crystal B Wakes, uncle Larry Holt and grandmother Cordia Holt.
Those who knew Gina will remember her beautiful spirit, warm smile, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her legacy of compassion, resilience, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In her loving memory, the family kindly welcomes contributions to the Gina Wakes Funeral Fund to help with funeral expenses. Your support, in any amount, is deeply appreciated during this difficult time. A viewing will be held at Alford's Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, on Friday June 26, 2024, at 11:00am. A service to celebrate Gina’s life will follow at the same location at 12:00pm. As we gather to remember and honor Gina’s life, we will be reminded of her humor, her love for her family and friends, and her never-ending courage.
