In Memory

Andre Dwayne Stewart
August 28, 1964 ~ April 17, 2025
Mr. Andre Dwayne Stewart, 60, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on April 17th, 2025.
Born on August 22nd, 1965 in South Bend, Indiana, Andre was the beloved son of Annie Joyce Houston and was raised by Mrs. Jeannette Stewart from infancy. Andre's early education was at Kennedy Academy Elementary school. He then went on to attend LaSalle High School, a testament to his commitment to education and personal growth. After school, Andre displayed a strong work ethic, first as a line worker at AM General for approximately four years and later spending two decades in environmental services at Holy Cross Village-Notre Dame. His dedication and integrity in his profession were evident to all who knew him. Andre's life was a tapestry of love woven by the people he touched.
He never married but cherished the relationships with his three sisters, Yvonne Williams of South Bend, Carol Stewart of Park Forest, Illinois, and Karen Stewart-Griffin of Monee, Illinois, and her partner Oscar Griffin, Jr. He also leaves a legacy of love with his nephew, other relatives, and a host of friends who will miss him dearly. Preceding Andre in his death were his mother, Annie Joyce Houston, and Mrs. Jeannette Stewart, who raised him. As we remember Andre, we recall the words of Seneca: "As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters."
A visitation will be held for Andre at Alford's Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana, on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 2 P.M - 4 P.M. His passing leaves a void in our hearts, but his spirit lives on in the memories we shared with him. We encourage those who knew Andre to leave memories and upload photos to his memorial page. Each story and picture help to paint a fuller picture of the kind, hardworking man Andre was, and each contribution is a testament to his lasting impact on those around him.
