Walter E. Kimmons
February 26, 1958 ~ May 21, 2021 (age 63)
Walter E. Kimmons, 63, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at Fresenius Medical Care.
He was born February 26, 1958 to Walter Kimmons and Lou Ethel Cropes in Holly Springs, MS; who preceded him in death along with his daughter Leslie Kimmons; grandparents Lois and Lucy Mae Kimmons.
He graduated from Lasalle and Central High school where he played football, and attended college at Arizona State University for a few years where he also played football. After schooling he worked as a General Manager for Hardees until his illness kept him from working. He also participated in flag and semi-pro football. Walter was a loving and kind person that never met a stranger. His favorite pastime was traveling and watching TV, sports was his favorite. You would always find joy in his heart because he would always keep you laughing. His favorite words to his wife was, “You are a diamond in the rough”. He also enjoyed going to his son’s sports games and cheering him on from the stands.
Walter was united in marriage on June 4, 1994 to Evonda Scott-Kimmons, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Dayshawn Kimmons of Chicago, Illinois and Evonta Kimmons of South Bend, Indiana; his daughter, Dameka Kimmons of Columbia, South Carolina; and his granddaughter, Breanna Moore of Columbia, South Carolina.
His two brothers, Dale (Tulani) and Charles (Sharlene); two aunties Lena (Charles) Bullock of Holly Springs, MS, and Barbra Kimmons of Kankakee, IL; two uncles Raymond Sr. (Lavern) Kimmons of Aurora IL, and Arthur Kimmons of Holly springs, MS; a host of step-brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Homes – Welsheimer North Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. before the services. Palmer Funeral Homes – Welsheimer North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
