Rolland Alan Herman Sr., 73, died at home with the help of hospice. on November 5, 2025, in Bremen, Indiana.
Born on June 5, 1952, Rolland was a 1970 graduate of LaSalle High School. In January 1971, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Over the course of his working life, he served as the building maintenance engineer at the St. Joseph County Jail and also worked for many years as a bartender at the University of Notre Dame Joyce ACC.
Rolland is survived by his high school sweetheart, Debbra Bivenour, whom he married on November 6, 1972; his two sons, Rolland Alan Herman Jr. “Todd,” of Seattle, Washington, and Kerry of Bremen, Indiana; two grandsons, Kerry Andrew and Kyle (Jessica); and three great-grandchildren, Adrian, Lily, and Oakley.
He enjoyed an active life filled with baseball, softball, bowling, golf, billiards, camping, and fishing. He also coached his sons’ Little League team with the help of his lifetime friend, Joe Geirnaert.
In accordance with his wishes, Rolland Alan Herman Sr. donated his body to the Indiana University Anatomical School of Medicine. Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Rolland will be remembered for a life marked by steady work, devotion to family, and enjoyment of the many pastimes that brought him together with others.
