Gary A. Butler

SOUTH BEND - Gary A. Butler, 55, formerly of South Bend, IN, died unexpectedly on February 10, 2009, from pneumonia. Gary was born July 15, 1953, to Ralph and Ruth (Jones) Butler, and had lived in South Bend until he graduated from LaSalle High School in 1971.

He attended Purdue University in their Pre-Veterinary School. While at Purdue he was selected as a member of the Purdue Men's Glee Club and participated in several theatrical productions. These led him to determine that his true passion was music, and he happily made music his career for the rest of his life. Gary had resided for many years in Nashville, TN.

On August 12, 2000, he married Renee Bellmar, who survives along with his mother; a brother, John (Candace) Butler of South Bend; a nephew, Tobias Butler of Atlanta, GA; and a niece, Lindsey Butler of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Butler.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held in Nashville, TN, on May 2, 2009.
