Gail M. Myers, 54, devoted wife, loving mother and grand-mother of Deepwood Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., entered into Eternal Peace on Thursday, Sept. 9, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind., after a courageous and lengthy battle with COPD. Gail was born on Sept. 17, 1949, in South Bend, as the daughter of Stephen and Audrey (Fields) Ivankovics. Gail was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey. On Oct. 14, 1972, in South Bend, as the former Gail Ivankovics, she married Dennis Myers. Gail is survived by her father and stepmother, Stephen and Irene Ivankovics; her loving husband, Dennis; two daughters, Alisa Myers and her fiancé, Scott Haigh, and Alania Myers, all of Mishawaka; a grandchild, Tyler Haigh; and two sisters, Diane (Steve) McNeil of Middletown, Ind., and Tina (Pat) McGinity of Queens Creek, Ariz.
She was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, a 1967 graduate of LaSalle High School, South Bend, and graduated from South Bend College of Commerce. She swam for the Marlins Swim Club in South Bend.
Gail loved to read when-ever she could; she loved animals of all kinds, especially dogs. She was a wonderful, loving mother and has always been involved in her daughters' scholastic and athletic activities. Always there behind them, encouraging them and supporting them, in whatever they chose to undertake. Gail was a one-of-a-kind person; she was kind and loving to everyone she met, always there to lend a helping hand and encourage others to do their best in everything they chose to do. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 5 p.m. today, Sept. 12, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. To continue with her love of animals, in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gail may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, Indiana Inc., 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
