October 2, 1954 – October 17, 2022

Mrs. Eleanor Lacy (nee Brooks) of Balch Springs, TX (formerly of South Bend, IN) was the first of 6 daughters born to the union of John L. & Esther (Brooks) Stuckey on Oct. 2, 1954 here in South Bend). Lovingly known as Ellie by those who knew and loved her, passed from this earthly life on Monday the 17th of October at 9:30 am in the comfort and peace of her own home. After graduating from LaSalle High School in 1973, Ellie went on to attend Nursing School at Ivy Tech School of Nursing, graduating with top honor of 1st an LPN, then a RN, and finally retiring in 2022 as a Nurse Practitioner. While living in Texas, she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Johnny Lacy, and remained married to him at the time of her passing. Those left to cherish her memory, yet mourn her passing are her husband Johnny Lacy of Balch Springs, TX; her one and only son Edwin Brooks of Michigan; her mother Esther Wade (Edward Kinslow) of Culver, IN; 5 sisters: Michelle (David) Stuckey-Finch, Arlene (Larry) Marley, Laverne Wardlow, Esther Holmes and Melissa Wade-Thompson, all of South Bend, IN; 1 brother Jesse C. (Susie) Stuckey of Anaheim, CA; 2 grandchildren Keyonna Vaugn and her children Raniya and Elijah, Jaden & Willamae & Darvis Brooks; the father of her son Charles Jamerson; 1 “very special” daughter Fran; 10 nieces, 8 nephews; 2 very special lifelong friends Valerie “Sas” Harden and Candice “Candy” Mitchell. Preceding Eleanor in death is 1 brother James “Jimboy” Williams; her father John L. Stuckey, Sr; two aunts who were like older sisters to her and referred to her as “Sissy,” Willa Hunt and Joanne Wheeler.

Per Ellie’s wishes, there will be no services, but a Memorial Service will take place at a later date. To “our” Sissie, thank you for raising us to be the young women and young man that we are today. You were always the “2nd” glue that kept this family together. We love you Eleanor for so many reasons, for ALL seasons!!
