Ronnie Bond

Oct 15, 1950 - Mar 9, 2025

Ronnie Bond, aged 74, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, peacefully returned home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.  Surrounded by his loving family, Ronnie's journey came full circle in a place filled with warmth and care.

Born on October 15, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana, Ronnie was born to the late Charles Bond and Margie Finney. He entered this world alongside his twin brother, Randy Bond.  Together, they shared a childhood filled with joy, adventure, and an unbreakable bond. Whether it was playing sports, running through the streets, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Ronnie and Randy were lifelong best friends, leaving an indelible mark on the neighborhoods of South Bend.

Ronnie was a standout student and athlete, known for his talent as a running back for LaSalle’s High School football team. His dedication to academics and sports led him to attend Indiana University, where he furthered his education before transitioning into a skilled trade. In 1970, Ronnie embarked on a career as an electrician, earning his Journeyman’s card in 1973.  He retired after almost thirty (30) years to General Motors, where his expertise as an electrician and work ethic left a lasting impact.

On October 20, 1979, Ronnie married Mai Sue Gaudin, the love of his life. Their story began at Beacon Bowling Alley in South Bend in 1978, culminating in a romantic proposal during an 'Evening in Paris' dinner at Laymen Chapel Church. Together, they blended their families, embracing one daughter, Rhonda, and two sons, Bryan and Adrian. Later, they joyfully welcomed a third son, Kristopher, into their loving family.

Affectionately known as Big Bopper the Showstopper, Pawpaw, and Uncle Ronnie, he was a devoted family man. Renowned for his culinary skills, Ronnie was the family grill master, known for his amazing BBQ Baby Back Ribs, smoked meats, and more. Thanksgiving at the Bond household was a feast with glazed ham and at least three turkeys, each uniquely prepared.  His selfless nature shone through as he raised his children with unwavering love and dedication.    His grandchildren eagerly awaited his return from night shifts at General Motors, signaled by his   signature whistle.

Ronnie's passion for golf was unmatched. As a proud member of the Part-Tee Golf Club, he cherished the camaraderie and friendships formed on the course. Some of his happiest moments were spent golfing with his wife Mai, his brother Randy, his sons, and friends. A round of golf was never complete without a cold Bud Light at the 19th hole.

Beyond the greens, Ronnie loved traveling, attending jazz festivals, and hosting lively cookouts. His life was a tapestry of joy, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. One of his favorite annual traditions was attending the Circle City Classic HBCU football game in Indianapolis with his family.

Ronnie leaves behind a family who loved him deeply, including his devoted wife of 45 years, his Little Bipper, Mai Sue, and his loving children: Rhonda (William) Bond Berry, Bryan (Yolanda) Dennis, Adrian (Leah) Dennis Sr., and Kristopher (Keyonda) Bond. He will be fondly remembered  by his adored grandchildren, Shaela (Solomon) Parker, Shaquille Bush, Cameryn (Michael) Dennis Messing, Dylan Atherton, Adrian Dennis Jr., Chandler Dennis, Kailey (Jalen) Ellis, Taylor Dennis, Korlan (Ciara) Bond, Alexis Dennis, Janiah Moore, Tia Dennis, Nigel Bond, Kennedy Bond, Karys Bond, Kendyl Bond, Kristian Bond, and Avin Dennis., as well as his dear siblings, Evelyn Burd, Randy (Michelle) Bond, Sandra Bond, Charles (Kay) Bond;  and  his four-legged adopted best friend, “Bentley.” His legacy extends to numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends who cherished him.

Preceded in death by his brother Donald Bond; sisters, Rose Bond, Christine Seward, Marie Bond; grandson, Brandon Dennis; and brother-in-love, Cliff Burd.

Ronnie is now reunited with those he loved dearly, welcomed in heaven with open arms. His warmth, kindness, and boundless enthusiasm for life will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
