Bruce Alan Brandon - Class Of 1969 VIEW PROFILE

Bruce Alan Brandon

Bruce A. Brandon of South Bend, Indiana, age 71, died in the very early morning of October 26 in Mishawaka, Indiana. Bruce was born in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Thomas Atkin Brandon, Sr., and Rosalie Elizabeth (Miller) Brandon.

Bruce’s parents had three children. Surviving is his sister, Nancy L.B. Anderson of Irvine, California, as well as nephews Mark (Monica) Anderson of Yorba Linda, CA; Jim (Debi) Brandon of Farmington Hills, MI; and Rick (Jamie) Brandon of Chelsea, MI; and niece Shelly (Ernie) Szatkowski of Armada, MI; as well as a great niece and three great nephews. Preceding Bruce in death earlier this year was his brother, Thomas (Bonnie) A. Brandon, Jr.

Bruce was a member of LaSalle High School Class of 1969 and Purdue University Class of 1973. Because he lived most of his life in South Bend, he was both a very strong Notre Dame fan and Purdue fan. He enjoyed South Bend history and family genealogy. Bruce worked for many years for Kinder corporation, a manufacturer of beds and furniture for the RV industry, where he was Director of Purchasing. Bruce was a long-time member of South Bend Turners, enjoying playing 16” softball and bowling with buddies for a lot of years. To his nephews and niece, he always seemed both like he was just out of college, and that he never forgot what it was like being even younger; we could tell he knew how to have a good time.

The family cannot possibly express enough gratitude to Bruce’s long-time buddy, Frank Vargo, who helped so much with Bruce’s affairs over the last few years while he was dealing with his illness. The family enjoyed connecting (or re-connecting) with Frank, and will always remember his great support of Bruce.

A visitation for Bruce will be held on Friday November 4, 2022 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Bruce will be buried next to his parents in Highland Cemetery at a late date. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Indiana Parkinson’s Foundation, 14350 Mundy Drive Suite 800 #181, Noblesville, IN 46060 in Bruce’s honor.
