Roberta "Robbie" M. Banicki Brinley
October 1, 1953 ~ April 17, 2025 71 Years Old
Roberta “Robbie” M. Banicki Brinley, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on October 1, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Bernard and Christine (Kwiecinski) Banicki.
Robbie was also preceded in death by one sister, Karen Patton and one brother, Marty Banicki. She is survived by three daughters, Tina Horvath of South Bend, Indiana, Kristin (Shaun) Brinley Maeyens of South Bend, Indiana, Carly Brinley of South Bend, Indiana, three sons, Scott (Melaney) Horvath of South Bend, Indiana, Chad (Christina) Brinley of South Bend, Indiana, Wilson (Laura) Brinley of South Bend, Indiana, fifteen grandchildren; Christina, Collin, Danielle, Jackson, JJ, Calleigh, Amarah, Jonah, Flynnie, Bean, Elijah, Kathryn, Theodore, Nehemiah, and Phoenix, four great grandchildren, Mya, Micah, Landon, and Liana, and two sisters, Maryalice (Ken) Miller of South Bend, Indiana, and Teri Ray of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida.
Robbie graduated from LaSalle High School in 1971. She became one of the first female carpenters in South Bend, Indiana with Carpenter’s Local Union 413. She then went on to have a career in data processing- at which she excelled.
While she was successful in her career, nothing holds a candle to what she meant to her family. Robbie was a free spirit; she had the ability to make everyone around her feel special. She loved to cook/bake, sing and listen to music, spend time with family, watch Notre Dame football and basketball, the theatre, and so much more. She had an amazing sense of humor, and could often be found laughing with family members.
She enjoyed being a Eucharistic minister at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Rosary Society. Robbie was a member of PWA Group 65, where she participated in Polish dancing and singing for the group’s events. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 10084. Robbie was kind, honest, genuine, loving, devout, and absolutely adored by her family.
A visitation for Robbie will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, Indiana from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am prior to the Mass. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made in Robbie’s honor to St. Hedwig Catholic Church.
